At the upcoming MakeUp in NewYork in five months, an event in the event….

An exceptional exhibition on the art of skincare and beauty objects from the 18th century to the present day…For its 2014 edition MakeUp in NewYork, invites you to discover an exclusive exhibition “PRAISE OF COMPLEXION” (the Art of skincare and beauty objects of the 18th century to the present day). After a first exhibition in Hong Kong, as part of the French May Arts Festival under the auspices of the French Consulate in May 2012, and then in early March 2013 at the Gadagne Museums in Lyon – France, the outstanding private collection of powder boxes and powder compacts, collected by Anne Camilli & Jean-Marie Martin-Hattemberg, will cross the Atlantic for the first time, at the invitation of MakeUp in NewYork.

Witnesses of an art of seduction

You will discover among the objects showcased, some rare beauty spot and powder boxes of the 18th century, rare powder compacts from renowned jewellers, diverted everyday objects–with at touch of humour on top of it, etc. Some of them recently acquired by the two passionate collectors had never left France before. They all highlight the evolution of a once small-scale trade, which has now become a thriving industry, perfectly epitomizing luxury.

If skincare and make-up products have become nowadays real concentrates of technology, they nonetheless remain witnesses of a consummate art of seduction also reflecting refined aesthetics, a pretext for creating wonderful bag or toiletry accessories, the best friends of any stylish woman.
