MakeUp in NewYork is hosting live artist performance on 9 & 10 Sept.
For the first time ever, the MakeUp in NewYork’s attendees will discover a Calligraphy performance in live, thanks to the support of Taiki Group. Taiki Group is a global leader in skincare and makeup beauty tools, products and containers. With over 80 years of experience, Taiki continues to focus on production, material and design to create products that solve application solutions. Pursuing the Art and Science of Beauty is a guiding principle of Taiki Group. Finding aesthetical values from the rich traditions of the beauty industry and transforming those values to present day fashion informs Taiki’s research and design efforts. As example, Taiki studied the use of fibers used in traditional makeup brush manufacturing. Squirrel hair used to be the premium choice for powder brushes, but is no longer used for ethical reasons. Taiki worked with DuPont to create a new synthetic fiber, made largely from plant sources and incorporating antimicrobial properties, that improves upon the squirrel brushes of the past. This new fiber is called TaFre+.
Consistent with this guiding principle, Taiki also supports young artists who have immersed themselves in the culture and art forms of the past and are creating new art for today that builds upon these traditions. Taiki Group is very pleased to introduce one of these artists to the United States at the MakeUp in NewYork event.
Shin-Rei began studying calligraphy at seven years old. She is today the supervisor of the famous “Shinka” calligraphy studio in Kansai, Japan. Shin-Rei has taken the traditional forms of calligraphy and expanded its use into graphic design for many commercial uses. But her passion is turning calligraphy into performance art as she creates larger than life calligraphy designs for audiences throughout Japan and Asia. Shin-Rei can been seen doing her calligraphy performances 3 times each day at the MakeUp in NewYork event. Taiki Group is proud to introduce Shin-Rei to the Beauty Industry and to celebrate the introduction of TaFre+ fiber for makeup brushes at the MakeUp in NewYork event.
