MakeUp in NewYork rewards packaging and formulation creativity!
On July 13th seven members of the Jury, belonging to brands, among the most prestigious in the Beauty industry, came together at the request of the MakeUp in NewYork organizers to select the three winners of the competition “Innovation and Packaging Creativity” organized each year with several American universities. New this year, the active participation of students from a French University, the Esepac. The three laureates will be awarded on September 7 at 06:00 pm at the MakeUp in NewYork event. An evening which will also be animated by an original presentation of the FIT students on the theme: Make-up application every morning before starting the day.
In total, more than eighteen universities will have been approached to participate in this unique annual competition on innovation and packaging creativity, and with seven of them chosen for a final selection of three winners.
The seven jury members including Nicole Masson (VP Product Development MAC Cosmetics); Vanessa Landau (Senior Director, Marketing Skin care Parfums Christian Dior); Gordon Ellis (Manager Package Development Estee Lauder); Christopher Tarling (Director Packaging Innovation L’Oréal), Virginia Bonofiglio (Teacher Fragrance & Cosmetics FIT); Krystal Ng Soardi (VP Map my Beauty) and Jean-Yves Bourgeois (Beauteam US President), were particularly impressed by the always higher quality of products submitted.
They paid tribute to the extreme professionalism of student teams from each of these Universities. “All these teams, concluded the jury, were committed to build very strong and very argumentative projects, all of them supported by realistic mockups and often very sophisticated and particularly successful videos.
“And the winner is…?”
The Award ceremony will take place on September 7th at the end of the afternoon at MakeUp in NewYork, at the Centre 548 in Chelsea. Like last year, the three best projects will be rewarded, as should be, in hard cash, the top winner winning in addition a trip to Paris to attend the MakeUp in Paris 2017 edition. But until then we can say no more… It’s a surprise!
FIT students in the spotlight!
On the afternoon of September 7, indeed fully dedicated to young people, with the presentation of an original video by the FIT students specializing in Cosmetics. Theme of this presentation: The daily application of make-up.
The group of students consists of Ashley Maria, David Lucas, Rafaela Topalian and Jessica Zuschlag. “Cosmetics mean more to people than one would imagine and it is much more than a superficial aspect of life”, this is what students will strive to demonstrate. “It goes skin deep and people are ready to share what it means to them. We brought together individuals of different ages, sexes, ethnics, and skills and have asked them to show us their beauty routine. Then we interviewed them so that they could tell us exactly what makeup meant to them. We want the cosmetic industry to get real feedback and insight from people that use the cosmetics they produce. We want to inspire the industry so that it can continue producing products that bring pleasure to those that love this industry and its products unconditionally.”
Yes, more than ever, younger generations will be given the place of honour at the next MakeUp in NewYork event!
